I recently embarked on the Kareri Lake Trek, and it turned out to be an extraordinary adventure filled with breathtaking natural beauty and a sense of tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere. This trek offers a perfect blend of moderate challenge and rewarding views, making it an ideal choice for both beginners and experienced trekkers seeking a rejuvenating escape into the lap of the majestic Himalayas. Some Tips For Trek:- Plan well. Stay fit. Pack light. Carry essentials. Stay hydrated. Follow safety guidelines. Enjoy nature's beauty. Leave no trace. Create lasting memories. Happy trekking!

Approx. 10 Km trek from the base. The whole trek is just awesome. On an average it takes 4-5 hours, and if possible spent one night there and enjoy born fire and sun rise. 70% of the path is just beside the small river, but steep ascent. Temperature is generally low at Lake, so keep some warm clothes with you. Rain is totally unpredictable, so try to keep a rain coat with you . Avoid trekking in monsoon as it is a bit risky that time. In the Kareri village there are so many home stays and Hosteller also, so Friday night you can spent there and then early morning start trekking.

The trek is approximately 8 kms from the starting point. If you are staying in any hostel or homestays in Kareri Village, you may have to trek additional 4 km approximately from your stay or you may choose to hire taxi to cover this distance. The trail is mostly cobblestone pathways following a Nala (river) with great views along the way. Guides and camping arrangements can also be booked at Kareri Village for ₹1000 per person which includes dinner and breakfast in addition to the stay in a tent near the lake. Camping in the banks of the lake is no more permitted and the nearest you can camp is along the final trial path. Mobile network is not available except for one spot ( that too only Airtel). The lake is underwhelming but the mountain in the background adds charm.

The trek is about 11km and you'll have to walk till that place, there is no alternative. The lake is located at a height of roughly 10,000 ft. The government has banned camping besides the lake due to tourists throwing garbage all near the pond, so your tent is most likely to be around 100 m away. Besides that, if you can - do a weekday trek, fewer people, more joy. The sunrise is to die for and the small swimmable puddles make this trek even more entertaining during summers. I visited in mid-May during the heatwave and faced a hailstorm, which dropped the temperature to about 2-3C. So carry warm clothes, the weather is unpredictable.

Head for the high hills of Kareri, through lush meadows and ancient pine forests, to reach Kareri Lake trek. It's nearly 10 kilometers long, with a moderate difficulty level – a hike that's perfect for nature lovers. You'll love every second as you head towards the sparkling lake ringed with mountains. Kareri Lake is a freshwater lake, nestled deep in the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas at an altitude of 3,300 meters above sea level. It is going to be your lifetime experience. Real beauty.
